Cohesion Lab exists because collections — from family histories to national archives — deserve infrastructure that honors both their data and their people. The tools most institutions can buy today do one or the other. We're building to do both.
Why Cohesion Lab
We care about unstructured material — photographs, audio, objects, recipes, ephemera. Genealogy tools do text well. Museum platforms do catalogs well. Fewer tools do the stuff in the box at the back of the closet. That's where a lot of cultural memory lives, and that's a lot of what we work on.
Team
Manager
Brooke is based at the University of Chicago, where her work centers on digital methods for the humanities and social sciences. Before Chicago she taught political science and research methods at Sabancı University in Istanbul.
Manager
Chris pulls structured, searchable information out of messy real-world material — recordings, transcripts, scanned documents, and other records that resist easy cataloging. He holds a PhD in sociology from the University of Chicago, with undergraduate degrees in physics and mathematics.
